Policetech Accelerator, Start-ups, Featured at Canadian Institute Conference
For the fourth straight year, Nventure featured both the V13 Policetech Accelerator (a strategic joint initiative with the Cobourg Police Service) and some of the region’s most promising up-and-coming policing technology start-ups at the Canadian Institute’s Conference & Expo, held December 2-3 at the Mississauga Convention Centre. Nventure’s Joe Miller has attended every year of the summit and this winter, spoke as part of a special panel of experts on the future of policing, and how innovation will help to drive operational excellence.
“This was a great opportunity to highlight the work of the Policetech Accelerator at Venture13 including initiatives like Pitch to the Chief™ and the Policetech Tested™ badge which we issue after successful field-testing and validation,” Miller explained. “As part of the panel, I also spoke to how the worlds of policing and entrepreneurship can come together and create value for each other, and what success looks like when we do.”
The V13 Policetech Accelerator has worked with several dozen Canadian ventures to date. Some have already gone on to raise venture capital investment, achieve acquisition or commercialize and scale up through successful pilot projects. Many of these companies recently appeared in Blue Line Magazine (pp. 12-13) a key industry publication with a national audience. Nventure sponsored start-up attendance at the conference for Novasher Ventures, Credibled, Spectra Plasmonics and Policy Pal.
PolicyPal Co-Founder Marcus Asimis has been working on a new agentic AI solution that makes real-time policy reference and interpretation easy for front-line officers. Marcus thanked Joe and the team at Nventure for their support. “For getting me into the expo, backing what I’m building, and plugging PolicyPal to people whenever you can. It means a lot, and I really appreciate everything you’ve done to help me get this off the ground. The expo went great, we made a ton of connections, and it gave me a big boost of momentum,” Marcus said. “Thanks again for being in my corner.”
“Working with next gen entrepreneurs and innovators like Marcus, we’ve generated a lot of momentum,” said Miller. “Now of course, we’re looking forward to 2026 and beyond, including the sixth edition of Pitch to the Chief™ which will take place on March 6th—details to come—and all we can continue to achieve through collaborative innovation.”
